We’re Not in Kansas Anymore!
There’s no place like home! There’s no place like home! Click your heels together and say it with me! There’s no place like home! Spring storm season is upon us and I think you will find when it comes to filing a roof claim on your Ohio home insurance that we are not in Kansas anymore!
Where to begin on this subject? For some time now I have procrastinated on approaching the issue of roof claims (*insert evil music here). This really is no laughing matter. Of all the blogs I’ve written, please pay attention to this one very carefully. If you file a claim for your roof on yourOhio home insurance, beware, for times they have changed.
Let’s just get to it. So your neighbor had damage to his roof during a recent storm and so did you. You both file a claim to your insurance companies, respectively. Your neighbor gets a new roof and you only get a partial roof. Seems a bit unfair, doesn’t it? Insurance companies now hire engineers to inspect damage to your roof, and depending on the direction of the wind driven rain or hail, your neighbor’s roof actually might sustain more damage than your roof. Your Ohio home insurance only covers the part of your roof that is actually damaged. And often times this can be paid on an actual cash value settlement instead of replacement cost on a partial loss. So it is extremely important to contact your insurance agent or company as soon as the loss occurs. If you Ohio home insurance agent are not in their office, you should be able to contact your company directly. There will be more to follow in blogs to come regarding roof damage on your Ohio home insurance.
In the mean time, don’t blow away!
